Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
